Most coffee changes hands a dozen times before it reaches the cup. This bag did not.
Jonah Kaupa picked the cherry, washed it at his farm and dried it on raised beds above Mamuane village. We bought it from him directly, carried it down the valley, and roasted it a few miles from the trees it grew on.
No pooling. No blending. No middleman taking a cut on the way through. One farm, one lot, one bag.
TRADITIONALLY GROWN
These are not plantations. Coffee here is grown the way it has always been grown in these valleys — a few hundred trees on a hillside, under shade, picked by hand. We do not call it organic, because organic is a certification these farmers cannot reach. Traditionally grown is simply the truth.
